Aylanda Dwi Nugroho, Ph.D.

Aylanda Hidayati Dwi Nugroho graduated from the State University of Malang (previously, Institute of Teachers Training and Pedagogy) in Malang in 1990. She obtained her MA in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) in the University of Canberra, Australia in 1994 under the sponsor of Australian government scholarship, AIDAB. She got her PhD from National University of Singapore, conducting research in critical discourse analysis.

Before pursuing her career at Petra Christian University in 1995, she taught English to students at St. Albert High School, Malang, and SALEM Bible Seminary, Malang. At Petra Christian University, she teaches a range of units: skill courses in English such as speaking, reading, listening and writing; discourse analysis; psycholinguistics; introduction to Australian studies; research methodology; and thesis seminars. She is a thesis supervisor in the research fields of discourse analysis and general linguistics.

Her recent publications include a number of journal articles published in national accredited journals such as kata(Petra Christian University, Surabaya), academic journal of Bina Nusantara University, Jakarta, and Phenomena (Sanata Dharma University, Yogyakarta). Her academic interests have expanded to critical discourse analysis, multimodal discourse analysis, and systemic functional linguistics. Her research areas are news discourse, political discourse, mathematical discourse, children fiction, and advertisement.
